Adopt a word and help Oxford Save The Words by promising to "use this word in conversation and correspondence, as frequently as possible to the best of my ability."        Each year, hundreds of words are dropped from the English language. Today, 90% percent of everything we write is communicated by only 7,000 words.                                                              Along with adopting, you can also sign up to be sent a word a day.

THINGS WE LIKE

Great film from Seattle's Mad Men Era:

Seattle Metropolitan magazine has posted some great clips:    JFK opening the Seattle World's fair, the Elvis movie promo and Bell Telephone's great fair tour and look at "The Future"

Books That Are History:

As we countdown to the Seattle World's Fair's 50th anniversary, the new book, THE FUTURE REMEMBERED, is helping put the event in historical perspective, uncovering some surprising facts and showing just how much times have changed. Did you know there were topless "girlie" shows at the fair and a "dirty" puppet show?

BIN client James Keeffe III spent seven years researching his father's WWII story. A posting on Google Books led to an e-mail from a Holocaust survivor who had been in hiding with U.S. Army Air Force Lt. Col. James Keeffe Jr. (ret.) after he was shot down in Holland 67 years ago and protected by the Dutch Resistance. She recently visited Mr. Keeffe, who is now 88-years-old.

Bold & Beautiful:                                                                                     That we can have this conversation out loud and civilly

Also Bold & Beautiful:

Learning things about our clients we never knew, such as how 500 love letters helped Tiberio win the legal right to live in Seattle in this great story written by Author Magazine's editor Bill Kenower.

JP Patches:                                                                  We are "Patches Pals" and now everyone nose what a loyal fan Gail is (far left).  This picture was part of the Magnolia Voice write up about what was expected to be JP's final public appearance.

Guerrilla Art & Creative "Happenings":

SMART SAM

Guerrilla art gets attention!  Take a look at the people (fore & aft) watching and using electronic media to capture one of Seattle Art Museum's Soundsuit Invasions.         SAM drew people to its fb page by "leaking news" about the unannounced invasions.

LASER GRAFFITI!We love the laser graffiti some Los Angeles artists created to protest the removal of an antiwar mural from this wall.  It landed them front page of the LA Times local section.

OPERA PRSeattle's opera company promoted its production of The Barber of Seville by holding a Barber of Seattle event that included haircuts, outlandish hairstyles and beard and mustache competitions.  View the photo gallery.

Clever Authors:

BREEZY BOOK TOUR

Olympia, WA author Jim Lynch parlayed his love of sailing into a mode of travel on tour for BORDER SONGS.  Jim's unique idea brought him to places that don't get many author visits AND drew the attention of the Wall Street Journal.

Good Interviews:

This practiced pro hits on all levels: creative topic, lively presentation, responds to the moment.  He does have too many product mentions but watch and learn.
